DWR FAQs

Durable water repellent, or DWR, is a coating added to fabrics to make them water-resistant (hydrophobic).

DWR works by creating a microscopic textured surface that increases the contact angle between water droplets and the fabric, causing the water to bead and roll off instead of soaking into clothing.

DWR does not affect a fabric's breathability. As it repels water droplets from the surface of the fabric, DWR leaves the spaces between fibres open for air to pass through, allowing for breathability to remain largely unaffected.

Yes, you can wash DWR-treated workwear, but washing too often or incorrectly can degrade the DWR. Always follow garment care instructions.
